We’re committed to creating elegant and relevant designs that are produced in small numbers and lovingly handcrafted. We’re very proud to introduce our interpretation of the NATO watch strap!
As you may or may not know, NATO watch straps are one-piece straps. The single strap is threaded through your watch lugs holding it securely. They’re also best known for being made of nylon and, although incredibly versatile in style, are most commonly used on diving and military watches. They’re also good news for folks who are allergic to close contact with metals!
Most people assume that ‘NATO’ straps originated in the military, and they are absolutely right – although not in the way that they think. The NATO strap of today is based upon the standard watch strap issued by the British Ministry of Defense, commonly referred to among themselves as the ‘G10’ (after the requisition form used by military personnel). The ‘NATO’ in this case refers to the NATO stock number identifying the strap! So there’s our bit of trivia for the day – though you were right, you were wrong. Interesting how that works out.
One piece straps have surfaced in recent times, but we thought we’d make ours with a bit of a twist. Instead of the standard double metal loop used as the keeper, we’ve used a single leather keeper giving it a very ‘vintage-yet-distinctive-and-modern’ feel to it, and all in all has a timeless quality that is fluid enough to fit in with almost any style of clothing.
So, meet our One Piece watch straps. A different look for all watches and all occasions. They are, as always, entirely handcrafted using some of the best leather in the world! We hope you love them. Shop now!
